The Utah Nursing Assistant Registry provides certification, renewal, and reciprocity services for Certified Nursing Assistants in the State of Utah. UNAR also approves and oversees all nursing assistant training programs and instructors.
UNAR was created in response to the Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1987. The purpose of the Act is to improve the quality of care provided in Medicare and/or Medicaid funded long term care facilities by mandating minimum standards for nursing home training and competency evaluation.
UNAR maintains records for over 50,000 nursing assistants in the state and maintains the State Abuse Registry.

If you click on the “Practice Tests” link you will be taken to a D&S Diversified Technologies page. On the left of the page there are some options for practice questions. There is a free ten question sample test that always has the same questions and a free question of the day that changes daily. Students and/or schools can also set up an individual test or group testing account and purchase practice tests.
The UNAR office is located on the Davis Applied Technology College (DATC) Main Campus, in Rooms 311, 312, 313 and 315 of the Northfront Business Resource Building. The UNAR office is open from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday - Friday, and closed on all federal and school holidays.
